ADVA Optical Networking announced today that Orpic (Oman Oil Refineries and Petroleum Industries Company) has deployed the ADVA FSP 3000 to connect its regional data centers. Stretching across 280km of fiber, Orpic’s network will use the ADVA FSP 3000 to transport and protect mission-critical data. Featuring the latest encryption and low latency technology, the ADVA FSP 3000 has been specifically configured to provide the most secure and fastest data transport possible. The network was installed and will be maintained by systems integrator HTC (Hussam Technology Company), a new channel for ADVA Optical Networking within the country.

“We compete within one of the fiercest marketplaces, within one of the fiercest industries. In this environment, every advantage is a competitive edge,” said Zakariya Al-Maghdri, information technology services manager, Orpic. “That’s why our network is so important. It enables us to be more efficient, to be more flexible, to be more dynamic. Over the next four years our company will undergo transformational growth as three major projects come on stream. With the ADVA FSP 3000, our network has a firm foundation, one that can scale as our company grows. From 10G to 100G and beyond – there are no limits here. The ADVA FSP 3000 doesn’t just provide scale though, it’s also about peace of mind, about security, and with its encryption technology we know our data is safe throughout the network. There are no weaknesses, no blind spots and this is vital.”

In addition to its encryption and low latency capabilities, the ADVA FSP 3000 was also chosen because of its extensive qualifications within the storage and data center community, particularly from Brocade. Orpic is primarily using native Fibre Channel (FC) between its data centers and was intent on working with a partner that has specific experience of transporting FC over expansive distances. This is a skill that ADVA Optical Networking’s team has developed over many years. With over 15,000 enterprise customers, including many of the Fortune 1,000, ADVA Optical Networking has an intrinsic understanding of how to build and leverage networks to become an enterprise’s competitive edge.

“We don’t just build technology, we build a framework for success, a foundation for the future,” commented Olaf Schönheit, senior director, Business Development, ADVA Optical Networking. “Our team worked closely with Orpic and HTC to ensure that our ADVA FSP 3000 met every criteria, every requirement necessary. The result is a network that exceeds expectations, a network that will grow at the same pace as Orpic’s business. This was no small task. Effectively connecting data centers over distance requires a team with extensive knowledge of the technology and the region. This is where our team excels. What’s more, our relationship with HTC provides a compelling partnership, one that we’re sure will lead to further success within the area.”

“When we build a network, we’re not simply integrating the best technology, we’re integrating the best team, the best expertise,” noted Mohammed Al-Abduwani, senior sales manager, HTC. “It’s this combined integration of technology, people and knowledge that ensures our success; that ensures our customers’ success. This is why our relationship with ADVA Optical Networking is so important. We’ve worked side-by-side with ADVA Optical Networking’s team to develop a network that exceeds Orpic’s expectations. From design, to testing, to implementation, we’ve taken each step together. This unity will prove key in the future and is a unity that will continue to grow in strength.”
