Marty Snella Resigns as CTO/CIO of Zayo Group

BOULDER, Colo – May 20, 2014 – Zayo Group, LLC (“Zayo” or “the Company”) today announced that Marty Snella, CTO and CIO, has resigned from the Company in order to take a break after nearly 30 years in the communications industry. Snella’s responsibilities have been redistributed across Zayo’s executive team, and the roles of CTO and CIO will not be continued at this time. Snella’s resignation was effective May 1, 2014.

“Marty has been an instrumental member of Zayo’s team since the beginning. His influence spanned the entirety of our technical activities — from construction and engineering, to operations and IT,” said Dan Caruso, CEO of Zayo. “With deep gratitude, I thank Marty for his leadership and all he has done for me, my colleagues, our customers and our investors during his time at Zayo.”

“The Zayo network and assets are managed by a very capable organization with a solid business strategy and talented people,” said Marty Snella, former CTO and CIO of Zayo. “If I didn’t need this break, I’d continue to work with my Zayo colleagues.”

Snella joined Zayo in 2008 and was directly or indirectly responsible for all technical aspects of the Company’s business units, including engineering, field operations, information technology, inside plant, outside plant, network operations and service delivery.  In recent years, most of these functions hard-line reported into other executives, though Snella was instrumental in establishing the technical functions and supporting the technical executives.

David Howson, former president of sales, recently assumed the role of Chief Network and Services Officer as well as Head of Europe, and has taken over a large portion of Snella’s technical oversight responsibilities. Howson spent the majority of his career overseeing construction, operations, and engineering functions at Level 3 Communications and MFS Communications.

Snella joined Zayo shortly after the Company closed its first acquisitions and played an integral role in the successful integration of subsequent acquisitions. Snella has over 29 years of experience in the telecom, information technology and cable TV industries and has held executive positions at ICG Communications, Expanets, Qwest Cyber Solutions, Level 3 Communications and AT&T Broadband (TCI).

“We miss Marty, and I hope we have the opportunity to work together with him again,” added Caruso.
