Alcatel-Lucent (Euronext Paris and NYSE: ALU) and the Telenor Group, one of the world’s largest mobile telecommunications service providers, have signed a global frame agreement making Alcatel-Lucent a candidate provider for 4G LTE networks to the subsidiaries in 13 countries in Europe and Asia.
The agreement offers Telenor subsidiaries Alcatel-Lucent’s leading 4G LTE Overlay solution as an alternative to single RAN deployment.
Alcatel-Lucent’s 4G LTE overlay network provides operators with a significantly faster and less expensive 4G deployment option, enabling LTE services to be quickly launched over the top of existing mobile infrastructure without the need for time-consuming equipment upgrades.

- Telenor sees LTE as the major radio investment area the coming years across all of their markets to help meet surging demand for high capacity and efficient mobile networks driven by smarter user friendly devices and a plethora of global and local content.
- Alcatel-Lucent’s 4G LTE overlay network technology offers an option to Telenor’s subsidiaries to have 4G LTE mobile networks up and running faster and more efficiently than following a slower migration process traditionally followed by operators.
- Included in the scope of the agreement are Alcatel-Lucent’s 4G LTE Radio Access Network and the 5620 Service Aware Manager
