Frontier Communications Employees in New York Ratify Labor Contract

MONROE, N.Y.–(BUSINESS WIRE)– Employees of Frontier Communications (NYSE:FTR, news, filings) in Monroe, New York, represented by the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) Local 503, recently ratified a customer service-focused labor agreement with the company, said Debra Bogdanski, General Manager of Frontier’s Southern Hudson Valley market.

The employees ratified the agreement on March 27, 2014. Frontier and union bargaining committees worked together to address issues that were priorities for both parties: the intense competition in the telecommunications industry, the challenging economic times, the importance of hiring and retaining the best employees and providing competitive wages and benefits.

IBEW Local 503 represents 42 sales and service technicians, building technicians and network engineering technicians who serve Frontier customers throughout the greater Monroe area. The ratified contract expires on January 31, 2017 and will help Frontier remain competitive and enhance customer service while continuing to provide solid wages and benefits to its Southern Hudson Valley based union employees.

“Facing a tough economic and increasingly competitive business environment, IBEW Local 503 and Frontier worked cooperatively to reach their respective objectives,” said Bogdanski. “Everyone recognized that we are all in this together, and the ratification is a ‘win-win’ outcome for our employees, our customers and our future.”

Both Frontier and Local 503 leadership collaborated on many operational and economic issues, noted Bogdanski, but the most important common goal for everyone was putting the customer first. Citing a true team effort between Local 503 and Frontier, Bogdanski said that both sides provided some give and take and stayed focused on customer impact, first and foremost. “We have the best employees in the industry. I am proud that our employees have our customers’ back and place the customer paramount in all they do. They strive every day to deliver the highest quality broadband, voice and video services to residential and business customers throughout the Southern Hudson Valley as well as across the country,” said Bogdanski.

With more than 13,650 employees across 27 states, Frontier serves markets coast to coast, with customers in rural heartland and metro areas, added Bogdanski. “Frontier is truly an all-American company, with 100 percent of our workforce based entirely in the U.S. Frontier has also been named a “Top 100″ 2014 Military Friendly Employer®, recognizing our partnerships, support and robust focus on military hiring.”
