DE-CIX Selects Zayo to Deploy Internet Exchange Infrastructure in New York

BOULDER, Colo.—April 24, 2014—zColo, the colocation division of global Bandwidth Infrastructure provider Zayo Group, LLC (“Zayo”), has signed a long-term agreement with DE-CIX North America Inc. to support the launch of its U.S. interconnection business model in the New York/New Jersey market. DE-CIX North America Inc. is part of the international DE-CIX group, which also operates the world’s largest carrier- and data center-neutral Internet exchange based in Frankfurt, Germany.

zColo will provide the infrastructure for DE-CIX New York’s access points at 111 8th Ave. and 60 Hudson St. colocation facilities in New York, as well as connectivity to the DE-CIX infrastructure at 165 Halsey St. in Newark, NJ. zColo enables access to 103 points of presence in these buildings and connectivity options to over 800 customers through its dense fiber riser system.

DE-CIX New York supports settlement-free interconnection between Internet providers and uses Zayo’s metro interconnect fiber for its backbone between both locations and 165 Halsey, creating a scalable infrastructure for DE-CIX participants. Having access points in these facilities also enables DE-CIX access to Zayo’s 510-route mile metro fiber network in New York/New Jersey. zColo will provide space, power and connectivity solutions to DE-CIX participants seeking to colocate at DE-CIX New York.

“DE-CIX New York is delivering a peering ecosystem that provides the world’s largest ISPs, Content Delivery Networks (CDNs), service providers and web hosters with the most advanced interconnection options available,” explains Frank Orlowski, chief marketing officer for DE-CIX. “To deliver this, we require first-class interconnection facilities and an extensive fiber-optic infrastructure that allows our customers to easily connect from anywhere in the NY/NJ metro. zColo and Zayo deliver this for us, with a high level of service and availability.”

“Providing connectivity for a global leader in the Internet exchange community is a strategic growth opportunity for zColo,” says Greg Friedman, vice president of zColo. “It promotes increased visibility of Zayo’s network and allows us to provide solutions for an extended customer base.”
