Chinese and Dutch Ministers officially open new Huawei office in Voorburg

[Voorburg, March 25, 2014]: Huawei, a leading global ICT solutions provider, today celebrated the opening of a new office in Voorburg. The Chinese Minister of Commerce, Gao Hucheng, and the Dutch Minister of Foreign Trade, Lilianne Ploumen, officially opened the office by cutting the ribbon. The new office reflects the rapid growth of the company in The Netherlands. Almost 250 employees will be employed at the Voorhaghe building in Voorburg.

Official Opening

A distinguished group of national and local government officials, key customers and other stakeholders were able to witness Huawei’s latest global and innovative ICT products and solutions. The opening of the office in Voorburg reaffirms Huawei’s long-term commitment to The Netherlands, where the company started operations in December 2004 with a big contract with Telfort. Since then, Huawei has strengthened its position in the Dutch market and now already has over 575 employees and three offices. The new office will help met the future needs of the company’s growing workforce. Huawei’s investment in The Netherlands is boosting the local economy and the company contributes a lot to the local society. The growth in The Netherlands is part of the expansion plan of Huawei in whole Europe where it will hire 5,500 employees during the next 4 to 5 years.

Wang Dexian, CEO of Huawei Technologies Netherlands, says the following: “This new location is very important for us. It marks the beginning of an exciting new period of development for us in The Netherlands. We have grown significantly, not only in the business-to-business environment, but also in the consumer market with our smart phones and tablets. And this growth made it necessary for us to move to a bigger office, close to our biggest customers and with good facilities for our employees. We thank our customers, our partners and the Dutch government for their trust and support, as we would not have been realized this success without them.”

Minister Gao Hucheng from the Ministry of Commerce of the PRC mentioned: “As one of the most influential private companies in China and because of their great performance in the Netherlands, Huawei has become a role model for other Chinese companies who want to expand in The Netherlands, and even in Europe. Huawei’s growth and investments in The Netherlands are the result of a good corporate philosophy. At the same time the strong support from the Dutch government and trust from the Dutch society have contributed to its success. Like today, Minister Ploumen took the time to visit the opening of Huawei’s office in Voorburg with me, which shows Dutch government’s great support to Chinese investments in the Netherlands.

Minister Ploumen, the Dutch Minister of Foreign Trade, stated: “The opening of Huawei’s office is a new foreign investment which shows that we are open for business. Huawei is a very important Chinese investor in the Dutch market and we are happy they have decided to do even more investment in The Netherlands and provide more jobs. We hope more Chinese companies will follow their example.”
