Unite Private Networks Begins Construction on Little Rock Fiber-Optic Network

Construction will add new jobs to the Little Rock community

Little Rock, AR (February 25, 2014) – Unite Private Networks (UPN) entered the Little Rock market in 2013, securing a long-term contract to provide the Little Rock School District (LRSD) with fiber-optic network services.   Initial construction of a 65 mile fiber-optic network began in November 2013 and is expected to be completed by July 2014.  When completed the network will extend throughout the community, including connections to all 56 LRSD facilities, and will provide up to 100 Gigabit of capacity.

“We are excited to bring this technology to LRSD and the broader Little Rock community,” said Linda Hammer, Vice President of Education Sales at UPN. “The new network will bring the latest capabilities and will serve LRSD’s communication needs for decades to come.”

“During construction, at least ten new jobs will be created, including the general contractor, subcontractors, architects, engineers, and consultants,” said Dave Boeck, UPN Regional Vice President of Construction. “We are making a significant, long-term investment in the Little Rock community and are making every effort to hire local personnel as much as possible.”

UPN provides high-bandwidth, fiber-based communications networks and related services to schools, governments, carriers, data centers, hospitals, and enterprise business customers located in 20 states.

“We provide customers with the ability to enter into long-term, fixed-priced contracts that allow them to lock in future communications costs while providing for flexible solutions to meet their ever-growing bandwidth requirements,” said Jason Adkins, UPN Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing. “The nearly unlimited bandwidth provided by fiber-optic facilities allows our services to easily and quickly expand as the needs of customers grow over time.  We provide a suite of products including Ethernet services from 10 Mbps to 100 Gbps, wavelength services, Internet access, dark fiber, and other customized solutions.”
