– Delivers private optical transport backbone services to three Federal Government Agencies in the Washington, DC metro area, Atlanta and Albuquerque
WASHINGTON, Feb. 20, 2014 /PRNewswire/ — tw telecom inc., (TWTC) a leading provider of managed services, including Business Ethernet, converged and IP VPN solutions for enterprises, large organizations and government entities throughout the U.S., today announced it has been awarded a contract from the U.S. Dept. of Health and Human Services (HHS) to provide a new Wide Area Network (WAN – Cloud B) that will interconnect three HHS Trusted Internet Connection (TIC) site locations.
Under the terms of the contract, tw telecom will deliver a number of 10Gbps optical bandwidth services that provide the backbone transport for the Health and Human Services (HHS) TIC traffic between the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and the Indian Health Services (IHS) sites in Ashburn, Va., Atlanta, and Albuquerque, N.M., respectively. The network architecture will also support Telecommunications Service Priority (TSP) to ensure rapid restoration of services. This award encompasses an estimated initial five-month base term with options for four successive one-year periods not to exceed $21.85 million.
The award enables tw telecom to deliver private, secure and scalable network connectivity transmitting mission-critical medical data and communications traffic, scalable to meet anticipated growth requirements for all three agencies.
