Cyan Executives To Speak on SDN, NFV and Packet-Optical Networking Trends at Upcoming March Conferences

February 28, 2014

Cyan (NYSE: CYNI), a leading provider of software-defined networking (SDN) and packet-optical solutions for network operators, today announced that Cyan Chief Technology Officer, Steve West, and Chief Marketing Officer, Joe Cumello, will be presenting at upcoming March 2014 conferences including Open Networking Summit, OFC 2014, and COMPTEL Plus Spring 2014 Convention and Expo.

“Cutting the Gordian Knot”
Open Networking Summit: Tuesday, March 4, 2:30 – 4:00 PM
Santa Clara Convection Center & Hyatt, Grand Ballroom G
Cyan CTO, Steve West, will discuss how multi-layer SDN is breaking the deadlock between hardware, protocols and network software. This Technology Track presentation is part of the “Application Driven SDN”  session, which focuses on demonstrating how end-user applications can program an SDN environment to automate network functions such as quality of service (QoS), traffic engineering, diagnostics, and more.

“Does SDN Spell the End for GMPLS?”
OFC 2014: Sunday, March 9, 4:30 – 7:30 PM
Moscone Center, San Francisco, Room 132
Generalized Multi-Protocol Label Switching (GMPLS) multi-layer control plane standards have been under development and extension for over a decade, being deployed in single vendor domains of optical switches, but never reaching the original goal of unifying the control of packet and optical networks. Now, Software-Defined Networking has captured the attention of the packet and optical industries with a different approach to controlling the multi-layer network. Cyan CTO, Steve West, and workshop participants will explore carrier, vendor and research community views in a debate on the future of optical and multi-layer control plane.

“Software Defined Networking: How Carriers Can Gain Maximum Advantage”
COMPTEL Plus Spring 2014 Convention and Expo: Monday, March 17, 10:15 – 11:00 AM
Aria Resort & Casino, Las Vegas
Software-defined networking (SDN) has gained momentum and holds great promise to change the way carriers operate their networks. During this session, Cyan Chief Marketing Officer, Joe Cumello, will join panelists in explaining the fundamentals of SDN and discuss how carriers can leverage this new approach.
