Bank Administration Institute Selects XO Communications for Cloud-Based Data Backup and Disaster Recovery Solution

XO Communications today announced that the Bank Administration Institute (BAI), a financial services association and leading industry partner for information and intelligence, has selected XO Enterprise Cloud to streamline its data backup and disaster recovery processes and to support the organization’s large storage capacity requirements. An enterprise grade, high-performance cloud solution, XO Enterprise Cloud leverages Tier III data centers and the XO nationwide network to offer high availability infrastructure-as-a-service (IaaS) offerings that enable BAI to virtualize and replicate their systems.

“BAI stores everything on its virtual backup server, including complex systems such as our research database, mail, archiving and file servers. The server can easily reach five Terabytes (TB), well over the maximum size supported by many providers. However, XO Enterprise Cloud scales to meet our considerable capacity requirements, a critical deciding factor for us since our storage needs will only continue to grow,” said Jim DiNapoli, senior networking manager of BAI.  “The more I learned about XO Enterprise Cloud, the more convinced I became that it was the perfect solution for BAI. After implementing XO Enterprise Cloud, BAI simulated a disaster situation and tested business continuity procedures using the virtual servers. The exercise proved to be successful, reducing BAI’s disaster RTO (recovery time objective) from two weeks to two days, enhancing business continuity and improving peace of mind. DiNapoli restored all of his organization’s systems and servers, including the customer relationship management (CRM) system, email, file systems and research database, in the cloud in two days on the first attempt-other providers’ restoration estimates to BAI were approximately two weeks.
