Frost & Sullivan Awards Best Mobile Network Strategy to AT&T Three Years in a Row; Video Company of the Year Two Years in a Row

Want to enjoy the smartest wireless network and best entertainment experience? A leading analyst firm says your choice is clear: AT&T. Telecommunications industry analyst firm Frost & Sullivan has recognized AT&T* with its 2013 North American Mobile Network Strategy Award for the third consecutive year, while also honoring AT&T with its second consecutive North American Residential Video Company of the Year Award. Additionally, AT&T received the 2014 Competitive Strategy Leadership Award in Residential Video.

“With the most well-thought-out strategic roadmap of any U.S. carrier, AT&T continues to prove that its network is designed for excellence, forcing competitors to play catch up in order to meet customers’ skyrocketing demands for high-speed mobile Internet services,” said Peter Finalle, analyst, Frost & Sullivan.

“AT&T also excels in one of the most competitive consumer markets in the U.S., with U-verse TV offering innovative services to customers at an exceptional value, driving customer growth and increased market share,” said Gina Villanueva, analyst, Frost & Sullivan.

Outstanding Mobile Network

AT&T received the Mobile Network Strategy award for its rapid, broad and simultaneous deployment of high-speed 4G LTE and 4G HSPA+ technologies. AT&T covers more than 250 million people with the nation’s fastest and most reliable 4G LTE network**.

Frost & Sullivan also honored AT&T for its aggressive rollout of additional network technologies to deliver the best possible mobile Internet experience virtually anywhere and anytime customers need it. AT&T operates the nation’s largest Wi-Fi network*** with more than 32,000 AT&T Wi-Fi Hot Spots and is an industry leader in deploying Distributed Antenna Systems (DAS), which utilize multiple small antennas to maximize coverage and speed where traditional coverage methods are challenging.

“We are committed to providing our customers with a best-in-class mobile Internet experience,” said John Donovan, senior executive vice president, AT&T Technology and Network Operations. “Through innovation and investment in our network, we are able to provide customers faster speeds and more reliability, allowing them to continuously get the most out of their devices.”

Excellence in Entertainment

AT&T’s network investment and innovation is also enabling more consumers to enjoy access to AT&T U-verse® while providing them with a better entertainment experience. Frost & Sullivan honored AT&T U-verse with the Video Provider of the Year and the Competitive Strategy Leadership awards for its leading IPTV network, which provides customers with an interactive way to watch TV and enjoy an integrated bundle of TV, broadband, home phone and wireless voice services, at a great value. AT&T was recognized for the innovative features it makes available to customers, such as the AT&T U-verse Wireless Receiver, Total Home DVR, U-verse App for smartphones and tablets and other applications.

Frost & Sullivan also honored AT&T for its customer growth. AT&T U-verse is the fastest growing TV provider in the U.S.**** with a $12 billion annualized revenue stream in less than seven years since its initial launch in 2006.

”Whether it’s channel surfing on your TV or watching a movie on your tablet, our focus is to provide customers with the best entertainment experience,” said Lori Lee, senior executive vice president, AT&T Home Solutions. “With our advanced IP network and unique U-verse platform, we deliver a more personal, interactive TV experience—whether you’re watching at home or on the go.”

To stay ahead of customers’ growing desire for high-speed Internet access and new mobile, app and cloud-based services, AT&T announced Project Velocity IP (VIP) last fall. The three-year investment plan focuses on the expansion and enhancement of AT&T’s wireless and wireline IP broadband networks.

Over the past six years (2007-2012), AT&T invested more than $116 billion into its wireless and wireline networks across the country. Since 2007, AT&T has invested more capital into the U.S. economy than any other public company. In a September 2013 report, the Progressive Policy Institute ranked AT&T No. 1 on its list of U.S. “Investment Heroes.”
