Frost & Sullivan Recognizes Level 3 with 2013 “Latin America New Product Innovation Leadership Award in Content Delivery Networks”

BROOMFIELD, Colo., Dec. 18, 2013 – Level 3 Communications, Inc. (NYSE:LVLT, news, filings) announced today it has been recognized with the prestigious Frost & Sullivan Best Practices Award 2013 for “Latin America New Product Innovation Leadership in Content Delivery Networks.” The Frost & Sullivan New Product Innovation Leadership Award is based on the company’s research findings of best practices across multiple business performance categories.

The criteria used to gauge Level 3’s performance against competitors in the content delivery network (CDN) market included: innovative element of the product; leveraging of leading-edge technologies in product; value-added features/benefits; increased customer return on investment (ROI); and customer acquisition/penetration potential.

“Third-party recognition by Frost & Sullivan reinforces Level 3’s ongoing leadership in delivering CDN solutions to customers,” said Leonardo Barbero, Level 3´s chief marketing officer and senior vice president for Latin America. “We initiated our CDN deployment in Latin America in 2012, and since then we have deployed nodes throughout the region and assisted various notable customers to improve their online services and grow their businesses.”

The Level 3 CDN is a core component of the company’s broader portfolio of IP-based video cloud solutions designed to support content delivery throughout its life cycle, from signal acquisition to delivery to viewers, and Level 3 also maintains the ability to provide CDN services over its own advanced network infrastructure. It combines the advantages of an industry-proven Internet backbone with a sophisticated and proven CDN platform.

“This award bears testament to Level 3’s positioning regarding content delivery services in Latin America, backed by its ability to realize huge customer acquisition potential through its fiber-optic backbone and metropolitan networks, together with a service that allows clients to scale their operations while offering an exceptional end-user experience,” said Ignacio Perrone, Frost & Sullivan Senior Consultant. “Level 3 has been able to optimize global content delivery for software, video and web applications in a competitive market due to its ability to integrate infrastructure, network connectivity and feature-rich services seamlessly as a single provider.”

Frost & Sullivan’s Best Practices Awards recognize companies in a variety of regional and global markets for demonstrating outstanding achievement and superior performance in areas such as leadership, technological innovation, customer service and strategic product development. Industry analysts compare market participants and measure performance through in-depth interviews, analysis and extensive secondary research in order to identify best practices.
