BOXBOROUGH, MA — October 30, 2013 — Lightower Fiber Networks, the premier provider of custom, high-capacity network services that ensure optimal application and business performance, announced that it now offers customers all-fiber connectivity to Amazon Web Services through Amazon’s Direct Connect locations in New York City, NY and Ashburn, VA.  Now customers can connect directly to AWS via all-fiber networking from any of Lightower’s 7,500+ service locations throughout the Mid-Atlantic, Northeast, and metro Chicago.

With the rapid adoption of cloud-based applications running on Amazon Web Services, end-to-end fiber connectivity between the business site and the AWS cloud is a critical component to the overall performance and experience of the AWS services.  Direct fiber connectivity between the business and an AWS Direct Connect location ensures maximum data throughout and optimal application performance.

“For any business implementing Amazon Web Services as a critical part of their overall business strategy, direct, high performance fiber connectivity becomes critical,” explained Doug Dalissandro, Chief Revenue Officer, Lightower.  “Lightower’s extensive fiber network throughout the east allows enterprises to easily connect to AWS New York City or Ashburn from their business location, data center, or anyone one of the 7,500+ service locations we offer, or we can even build to a new location for a customer.”

The AWS Direct Connect certification encompasses all AWS services, including Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (EC2), Amazon Virtual Private Cloud (VPC), Amazon Simple Storage Service (S3), Amazon DynamoDB, and Amazon Relational Database Service (RDS).  Lightower’s service portfolio includes Ethernet services from 10 Mbps to 100 Gbps, wavelength services from 1 Gbps to 100 Gbps, dark fiber, Internet Access, and more.

Lightower has the highest fiber density and building count of any metro fiber provider in the East. The Lightower network offers more than 20,000 route miles of fiber connecting more than 7,500 service locations, including 130 data centers, more than 115 carrier hotels and central offices, over 40 financial exchanges, and 18 Lightower colocation centers.
