Telx Achieves Two Major Operational Milestones: Uptime Institutes “Tier 3” Rating for Flagship New Jersey Data Center & SOC2 Type 2 for 14 Other Data Centers

NJR3 LEED Facility Certified as Tier III While 14 other Datacenters Complete Transition from SOC1 to SOC 2

New York, NY (August 14, 2013)Telx®, a leading provider of global interconnectivity, cloud enablement services and 100% Uptime SLA data centers, today announced two  major operational milestones. Telx’s NJR3 facility located at 100 Delawanna, on Telx’s Clifton Data Center campus, has received certification as a Tier III “Concurrently Maintainable” datacenter by the Uptime Institute. Telx has also transitioned and completed its first SOC 2 examination report covering Security and Availability related to Interconnection and Colocation services in 14 other Telx facilities across the United States that includes New York, Chicago, California and New Jersey.

NJR3’s Tier III “Constructed Facility” certification ensures if any one critical data center component is removed through planned maintenance or component failure, service will not be interrupted. Through redundancy and concurrent maintainability in infrastructure, a Tier III data centers provide the required availability and uptime to meet the service level agreements and uptime to support mission-critical applications and 24/7/365 production environments.

Currently NJR3, within Telx’s Clifton Datacenter Campus, is in the only retail datacenter within the New York/New Jersey metro to hold this level of certification. Like all of Telx’s datacenters, the Telx Clifton Campus is a managed carrier-neutral, secure environment for enterprises, digital media and bio-pharm companies, financial services, network providers and carriers. Telx Clifton Campus is also interconnected by diverse fiber back to Telx’s Manhattan locations.

The Telx SOC 2 Report, issued by national Top 40 accounting firm Weaver, focuses on two key principles as they relate to Interconnection and Colocation services: Security, and Availability.

The SOC2 report meets the requirements of certain Telx clients to achieve independent assurance that Telx has met the criteria necessary to fulfill the Security and Availability Trust Principles. By meeting these criteria, fourteen of Telx’s other facilities has demonstrated that the security and operational processes of its C3 Cloud Connection Centers™  have been reviewed and evaluated by an independent certified auditor and confirms that controls and processes are suitably designed and operationally effective.

“Telx’s investment in SOC 2 via upgrading internal processes and systems underscores our commitment to delivering quality, secure and highly available data center services to our customers,” said Dan Wolfe, Telx’s vice president of IT and process management. “Telx is committed to providing 100% Uptime SLA and 24 Hour or Less Cross Connect Completion, along with other industry-leading standards for availability like Uptime Institutes’ certification. Obtaining confirmation of our fulfillment of these standards via SOC 2 is a strong proof point for us moving forward.”

“SOC 2 is a prescriptive reporting standard that speaks directly to the needs of data center community and cloud service providers,” said Brian Thomas, Partner at Weaver.  “The criteria required to meet the Security and Availability principles are standardized and align with generally accepted frameworks such as, COBIT, ISO 27001 and the Cloud Security Alliance’s Cloud Control Matrix (CCM).”
