Focus on IT Solutions Propels Verizon’s Federal Business

Washington Technology is out with its annual ranking of top federal IT contractors and Verizon’s focus on IT solutions has propelled it to spot #14 on the list, up four spots from 2012.

Few would disagree that federal contractors are facing challenging and uncertain times, with sequestration, budget cuts and contract delays defining the market. However, with challenge comes opportunity.

“There’s probably never been a more exciting time for government than the time we’re in right now,” said Susan Zeleniak, senior vice president at Verizon Public Sector Markets. “The challenges are big, and I really see government leaders…stepping up to find…real solution[s] to be cost aware and at the same time…deliver…better service[s] to citizens.”

By leveraging its significant investments in dynamic cloud, intelligent networking, mobile workforce, connected machines and cybersecurity, Verizon is actively creating innovative, platform-based solutions that help enable the federal government to harness the power of IT to drive operational efficiency, improve the delivery of constituent services and secure the homeland. Recent contract awards that highlight the government’s adoption of Verizon’s solutions, include the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s cloud blanket purchase agreement and the U.S. General Services Administration’s Wireless Federal Strategic Sourcing Initiative.

The 2013 Washington Technology Top 100 measures the prime contracting revenue of the largest contractors in the federal IT and systems integration spaces by analyzing government spending on IT, systems integration, professional services, engineering services and telecommunications during the 2012 fiscal year.
