C4L future proofs rapidly growing London network services with Geo’s fully private dedicated fibre infrastructure

From 1-100Gbps, C4L’s colocation and connectivity services are backed by a secure network routed through London’s Victorian sewers

Connexions for London logoGeo Networks Ltd (Geo), the leading provider of dedicated fibre networks, announced today an agreement to provide colocation and connectivity solutions provider Connexions for London (C4L), with a fully resilient and scalable dedicated fibre network connecting to one of its primary London data centres.

C4L serves hundreds of customers who rely on the company’s colocation and connectivity services to host their business critical applications. From government bodies and financial institutions right through to FTSE 250 businesses, users can take 1-100Gbs backed by a fully private core infrastructure. With rapid growth in its London based services C4L chose Virtus’ Enfield data centre as one of its primary London facilities. The company then looked to Geo to connect the colocation facility to C4L’s London metro network and the existing Internet exchange in Docklands.

Geo’s first-in ‘open-access’ data centre connectivity approach meant that the Enfield data centre already benefited from a newly built 19km dedicated fibre infrastructure available to other carriers and service providers like C4L. The highly scalable, fibre infrastructure is routed on average 3-10m below ground through the London sewer network delivering the highest level of redundancy and reliability, a feature that is critical to C4L’s customers.

Simon Mewett, CEO at C4L comments, “Our vision is to be a completely customer-orientated UK colocation provider, so we are always striving to innovate and stay at the forefront of our industry. By using Geo’s dedicated fibre infrastructure as a backbone for our intra-data centre connectivity services we aim to maximise uptime and guarantee the highest level of service excellence.”

“As customers become more demanding and organisations more complex, the right network infrastructure is needed to deliver the required performance and security,” said Annette Murphy, Business Development Manager at Geo. “Having ownership of its own dedicated fibre backbone network allows C4L to easily scale bandwidth to users’ requirements managing both current and future needs.”
