Fibertech Networks Expands Presence in Connecticut

Opens New Office in Cheshire; Grows Employee Base; and Completes Large Expansion of Network

ROCHESTER, NY–()–Further strengthening its position as the leading alternative fiber provider in the state of Connecticut, Fibertech Networks today announced it has completed a large expansion of its fiber infrastructure. Over the past several months, the company has completed construction of more than 850 miles of new fiber, expanding its overall total of more than 3,500 owned and operated route miles of fiber throughout the State.

“We’ve established Connecticut as our Eastern region headquarters given the significant investments we’ve made in employees, office space and growth of our network footprint,” said Fibertech Chairman and CEO John Purcell.

Specifically, Fibertech has network that reaches the four corners of the State, connecting major cities such as Hartford, Bridgeport, Stamford, Danbury, New London and New Haven, CT, among others. The company’s Connecticut network offers continuous connectivity through Westchester, NY, as well as connecting into the company’s networks in New Jersey, Delaware and Maryland.

To support this network growth, Fibertech recently opened a new regional office in Cheshire, CT. The 4,200 square foot office will house operations, sales and administrative personnel. It also has a 850 square foot training facility. To date the company has 41 full-time employees in Connecticut to serve and support customers, as well as 10 additional employees who are either contractors or part-time employees.

Fibertech’s service offering encompasses both dark fiber and optical broadband options to area businesses that have predominately used traditional carrier lines in the past. The company’s complete optical solutions portfolio of services includes private line connections ranging in speeds from T1 to OC-192; point-to-point and multi-point Ethernet service in speeds ranging from 10 Mbps to 1000 Gbps; dedicated Internet access; DWDM; and collocation for fast communication between multiple locations.

Fibertech offers network services to education, healthcare, government and financial institutions, along with and other large and medium-size businesses looking to meet demands for data and broadband connectivity. Fibertech extends its fiber optic network directly into business locations, allowing them to internally deploy a wide range of advanced telecommunications applications. Organizations can benefit from the added scalability and control inherent in a new fiber network.

“Business growth in Connecticut, coupled with increasing demand for broadband connectivity, has allowed Fibertech to aggressively expand its presence in the State,” added Hurley. “We believe our networks have helped enable increased facilities-based telecommunications competition, while making the area an attractive environment for business through this significant private investment in broadband infrastructure.”

In addition to its fiber networks in Connecticut, the company has networks operational in Pittsburgh and Philadelphia, PA; Indianapolis, IN; Columbus, OH ; Providence, RI; Springfield and Worcester, MA; Syracuse, Rochester, Buffalo, Binghamton, White Plains, and Albany, NY; Wilmington, DE; Montgomery County, MD; and Northern and Southern NJ. The company also recently announced its expansion into Akron, Cleveland, Cincinnati, Dayton and Toledo, OH, which it expects to complete in 2014.
