BroadSoft Demonstrates the Benefits of WebRTC

Enabling enterprises to communicate with any customer, partner or supplier with a WebRTC-enabled browser

GAITHERSBURG, MD, June 10, 2013 – BroadSoft, Inc. (NASDAQ:BSFT, news, filings) today announced it has introduced a WebRTC demonstration for its UC-One platform, which will extend real-time Unified Communications beyond the confines of the enterprise – to any customer, partner or supplier with a WebRTC-enabled browser. With the addition of WebRTC, BroadSoft will extend the fully integrated, seamless communication experience UC-One provides to include web browsers.

UC-One is a comprehensive, open Unified Communications platform that combines all of the critical elements a telecommunications service provider requires to ensure rapid delivery of their UC solutions to the market segments they serve, including intuitive user interfaces, full mobility, open APIs and defined market offerings. UC-One breaks down communication boundaries that persist between services, devices and the individuals who are communicating and collaborating.

“WebRTC transforms Web browsers into an endpoint so that service providers can unlock the benefits of Unified Communications for any user with a WebRTC-enabled Web browser,” said Scott Hoffpauir, chief technology officer, BroadSoft. “As one of the most robust Unified Communications platform, UC-One becomes a significant competitive differentiator for service providers who can not only deliver real-time Unified Communications services to the enterprise, but to an expanded ecosystem of customers, partners and suppliers.”

With BroadSoft’s WebRTC-enabled UC-One platform service providers can offer enterprises several new communications, customer service, productivity and cost savings benefits, including:

  • Enhanced customer experience – Enterprises can improve customer service by adding a rich media communication experience within their Website, email communications and mobile apps as WebRTC enables real-time, browser-based video and voice calling. A richer contact center experience also results in greater customer satisfaction and faster trouble resolution for the enterprise.
  • Extends reachability, productivity and efficiency UC benefits beyond the enterprise – by extending the benefits of Unified Communications to an enterprise’s entire ecosystem, external company communications are as simple as efficient and internal communications.
  • Lower costs – Adding WebRTC capabilities to the UC-One platform lowers enterprise IT deployment and support costs by eliminating the need to deploy UC clients.

“UC-One breaks down silos that have been erected around voice, video and collaboration that inhibit employee productivity,” adds Michael Tessler, chief executive officer, BroadSoft. “Enabling UC-One with WebRTC means that instead of wondering which devices, services and applications are needed to communicate with a customer, enterprises can simply focus on what is most important: delivering a superior, real-time customer experience.”

For service providers, the new WebRTC-enabled UC-One platform can be easy to deploy and manage and is interoperable with existing endpoints. As a result, service providers can speed time to market for delivering new Unified Communications services, and extend the benefits of these UC services to reach beyond the employees of an enterprise, to include their partners, suppliers, and most importantly, customers.
