(NASDAQ:TWTC, news, filings), a leading provider of managed services, including Business Ethernet, converged and IP VPN solutions for enterprises throughout the U.S. and world-wide, today announced that Federal Communications Commission (FCC) Chairman Julius Genachowski has appointed Larissa Herda, tw telecom Chairman, CEO and President, to lead the FCC’s Communications, Security, Reliability and Interoperability Council (CSRIC), effective immediately.

Ms. Herda will chair the Council composed of executive leaders from some of the nation’s most prominent telecommunications, media and technology firms.  Her term of appointment is for two years.

In a letter announcing Ms. Herda’s appointment as Chair, Mr. Genachowski said her “expertise will be critical to the Council’s mission … (which is) expected to include a number of challenging tasks including making recommendations on emergency alerting issues, and examining metrics for implementation of Domain Name System security extensions and secure routing.”

Ms. Herda is currently a member of President Obama’s National Security Telecommunications Advisory Council (NSTAC), which provides the President with critical advice and recommendations regarding national security, cyber security and emergency preparedness.

John Hickenlooper.  The Board’s mission is to promote collaboration among Colorado’s private, public and academic organizations and to stimulate economic growth, help create jobs and attract new businesses.

Ms. Herda was a member of the board of directors at the Leeds School of Business at the University of Colorado for eight years and is currently a member of the school’s advisory board for the Center for Education in Social Responsibility (CESR).
