Integra Becomes Provider of Communications Services for World’s Greenest Office Building

Energy-efficient Enterprise Services from Integra Help Bullitt Center Realize Net-Zero Energy Footprint

Portland, Ore. – April 30, 2013 – Integra™, a provider of fiber-based, carrier-grade networking, communications and technology solutions, has been selected as the provider of data and communications services for the Bullitt Center, considered the most energy efficient and environmentally sustainable office building in the world.

After a rigorous evaluation of competing data and communications providers for energy efficiency and superiority of offerings, the Bullitt Center chose Integra to provide Hosted Voice Services, Cloud Firewall Services, cloud-based Collaboration and Messaging Services, and Ethernet-based, High-Bandwidth Internet to the building’s tenants.

Located on Seattle’s Capitol Hill, the 6-story, 50,000 sq. ft. Bullitt Center is designed to generate as much electricity as it consumes, combining highly energy efficient internal processes with 100 percent renewable energy generation from a rooftop array of photovoltaic power panels. The building is also designed to harvest rainwater for all of its water needs. The Bullitt Center is the nation’s first mid-rise commercial project to meet the demanding sustainability benchmarks of the Living Building Challenge.

“The Bullitt Center has pledged to meet the most exacting energy-neutral standards for power consumption, and in addition, we need to offer our tenants the most sophisticated data and communications services available. Both paths led us to Integra,” says Brad Kahn, communications director at the Bullitt Center.

Integra’s portfolio of enterprise-class data and communications services includes a suite of cloud-based solutions that remove the need to house large, energy-hungry routers and server installations on site. With Integra’s energy-efficient cloud services, organizations—or entire buildings—can greatly reduce their power consumption while providing end users a comprehensive array of state-of-the-art communications services.

Tenants at the Bullitt Center include organizations such as a university research facility, a digital media production firm and the environmentally focused Bullitt Foundation, each depending on Integra’s high-bandwidth infrastructure for their mission-critical communications and data access, including voice, email, collaboration and cloud security services.

“Integra is pleased to be selected to provide data and communication services to such an innovative facility as the Bullitt Center,” says Ken Smith, executive vice president of sales at Integra. “Our selection demonstrates that Integra’s advanced communications services will meet the requirements of the most demanding and energy-conscious organizations.”
