iBasis Selects Epsilon for Expanded Asia-Pac PoP and Network Connectivity

Epsilon colocation services in Singapore allow iBasis to enhance its IPX footprint and interconnect to more network operators across Asia

Singapore – April 18, 2013  – Epsilon Telecommunications, the world’s largest global telecoms network exchange, has been selected by iBasis, a KPN company, to provide a fully integrated managed point of presence (PoP) in Singapore as well as colocation support and network connectivity. As one of the world’s largest carriers of voice minutes, iBasis will use Epsilon’s local infrastructure and support to enhance its network presence in Asia-Pacific while consolidating its existing Singapore PoPs. In addition, the Epsilon facility is a cost-efficient way to expand iBasis’ IPX footprint and to serve more customers with voice and data services in the region.

This PoP will be located at Epsilon Global Hubs NTP (Singapore). The Epsilon Global Hubs NTP is a carrier-centric facility with deep metro network coverage in Singapore and will be used by iBasis as an interconnection hub for the region. Epsilon’s more than 450 preconnected network operators can be leveraged by iBasis to extend its already unique footprint to more places in Asia and around the globe.

“Our approach to colocation is about providing more than just colocation itself. We are there to support network operators of all sizes with the services they need,” says Jerzy Szlosarek, Chief Operating Officer at Epsilon Telecommunications. “Often that can be a mix of managed PoP support as well as local, inter-regional, and global connectivity. This is about having a proven model and using it to do more for our customers efficiently.”

Epsilon Global Hubs NTP (Singapore) is a tailored carrier-neutral colocation solution for service providers requiring easy access to global operators, bandwidth connectivity, system integration and maintenance support. The advantage of the Epsilon solution is that it allows network operators to not only connect to Epsilon’s colocation facility but other data centres and colocation facilities using the Epsilon network exchange.

Epsilon is a provider of telecoms services ranging from simple point-to- point leased lines to fully managed global presence for network operators and service providers. Its customers and partners consist of Tier 1 global carriers, regional network operator and local service providers.

“As we expand our global IPX footprint, Epsilon’s mix of colocation services and local and international connectivity makes it an ideal partner for us. Having worked with Epsilon for more than six years, we have great confidence in our relationship,” said Gert-Jan Huizer, SVP Product Management & Marketing at iBasis. “There is enormous growth potential for our IPX services in Asia-Pac, and our relationship with Epsilon gives us a cost-effective and efficient way to interconnect with our carrier customers.”
