BTI Systems Achieves Carrier Ethernet 2.0 Certification

Innovative Software and Networking Solutions Provider Recognized by the MEF as a CE 2.0 Pioneer

OTTAWA and BOSTON – January 30, 2013

BTI Systems, the software and networking leader empowering content and service providers to capitalize on trends in mobility, Internet video and cloud services, today announced that it has achieved Carrier Ethernet 2.0 Certification. Notably, BTI is a member of the inaugural class of companies that have attained CE 2.0 certification status from the Metro Ethernet Forum (MEF).

Launched in 2012 by the MEF, CE 2.0 delivers three new powerful and standardized features. Multiple classes of service, easier interconnection and greater manageability for eight standard service types enables new levels of efficiency for mobile backhaul and Ethernet business services. The MEF’s certification program accelerates the ability for service providers to deploy these eight new CE 2.0 services via E-Line, E-LAN, E-Tree and E-Access, and brings deserved industry recognition to equipment vendors for their technology innovation and product integrity.

The BTI Service Access 810 is the first offering in the BTI product suite to be CE 2.0 certified. An integral component of BTI’s Ethernet Business Services and Mobile Backhaul solutions, the Service Access 810 is a compact, carrier-grade, cell tower-ready access platform with enhanced service-level management that delivers scalable services and helps reduce operational costs. With integrated support for both Ethernet and TDM connectivity, it creates an affordable, seamless path to high-performance Ethernet WAN and wireless 3G/4G mobile backhaul services.

“The MEF is the driving force behind the advancement of Carrier Ethernet, and we are honored to be recognized by the global alliance as a CE 2.0 ‘pioneer,’” said Peter Green, Senior Product Manager of Ethernet Products at BTI Systems. “We look forward to collaborating on future certification of our innovative solutions portfolio, which provides the standards-based foundation for delivery of cost-effective, efficient, scalable and profitable Ethernet business and mobile backhaul services.”

“The MEF views the CE 2.0 certification program as opening a very important chapter in the evolution of standardized Carrier Ethernet services,” said Eric Puetz, MEF Certification Committee Co-Chair & Director – Broadband, Access, and Transport Standards, AT&T. “CE 2.0 certification provides an essential proof point for CE 2.0 services opening up new markets for regional providers, delivery of cloud services, the first application-oriented SLAs and optimization of mobile backhaul.”

The MEF is a global industry alliance comprising more than 200 organizations including telecommunications service providers, cable MSOs, network equipment/software manufacturers, semiconductors vendors and testing organizations. The MEF’s mission is to accelerate the worldwide adoption of Carrier-class Ethernet networks and services. The MEF develops Carrier Ethernet technical specifications and implementation agreements to promote interoperability and deployment of Carrier Ethernet worldwide.
