London, 17 December 2012: Cable&Wireless Worldwide (CWW) has been announced as the winner of the 2012 DatacenterDynamics EMEA Awards in the Data Center Blueprints category. The award was received for the CWW’s data centre design blueprint, which has been used in the company’s industry-leading Uxbridge data centre in Middlesex.
The awards, now in their seventh year, recognise pioneering innovation in the data centre industry across EMEA. The Data Center Blueprints category commends exemplary ‘blueprint’ design and management ideas that conquer industry challenges. With competition from projects by Minkels, Digital Realty and Mafi Mushkila Limited, it was CWW’s Urban Blueprint project that stood out to the judges as an example of creative thinking and demonstrable, validated success.
CWW’s landmark data centre, conveniently located near Heathrow and the M25, has a Power Usage Efficiency (PUE) rating of 1.25, leading edge technology and a secure, resilient network infrastructure, ensuring it meets the efficiency and security concerns of enterprises in a cost-effective way. It boasts seven data halls across 31,000 square feet, Tier III Uptime Institute accredited design, diverse internet breakout and a 4,300kW capacity.
