Skullcandy Depends on Level 3 Network and SIP Solutions to Improve Efficiency and Reliability of Global Communications

BROOMFIELD, Colo., Oct. 3, 2012 /PRNewswire/ — Level 3 Communications, Inc. (NYSE:LVLT, news, filings) today announced that Skullcandy, a global manufacturer of headphones, earbuds and headsets, is using Level 3’s network and SIP solutions to improve communication among key corporate locations in North America and China.

Skullcandy uses bold color schemes, loud patterns, unique materials and creative packaging with their Supreme Sound audio technologies and innovative functionalities to create its products, which are sold in more than 70 countries around the world. The rapid growth of the business has placed a strain on their existing network. To solve that challenge, Skullcandy turned to Level 3 to provide them a global IP virtual private network (VPN) that enables them to share massive digital image files (such as the artwork for their merchandise boxes) with their manufacturer in China, as well as to support customer service; employee communications; and the day-to-day communications of their operations.

They also are depending on Level 3’s Enterprise SIP solution to consolidate their voice services and to support their customer service operations.

“We’re relying on Level 3 to provide a rock-solid, high-performance international data infrastructure,” said Brent Allen, Skullcandy’s senior technology manager. “Level 3’s network and SIP solutions have improved the consistency and reliability of our communications. We now have the peace of mind of knowing that our communications network and our SIP-based phone systems are high quality, cost-efficient and dependable.”

Level 3’s IP VPN solution provides enterprise-class metro and wide-area network services over a private, dedicated Multi Protocol Label Switching infrastructure. SIP-based services allow enterprises to converge voice and data on a single network, creating tangible network and operational expense savings while laying a foundation for the use of next generation communications and collaboration tools.

“We are delighted to help Skullcandy improve the efficiency and quality of their communications,” said Andrew Crouch, Level 3 regional president of North America Sales. “Our VPN and SIP solutions give them the flexibility, reliability and quality they need to support the demands of their business today and as they continue to grow in the future.”
