TeliaSonera International Carrier has been shortlisted for Best Wholesale Carrier for the seventh consecutive year at this year’s World Communication Awards (WCA).
TeliaSonera International Carrier has officially been recognized as being amongst the most successful and innovative communications organizations on the planet. TeliaSonera International Carrier (TSIC) has been shortlisted for two separate honors at the 2012 World Communications Awards. The internationally respected selection committee – made of independent judges from a range of places, including AstraZeneca, KPMG, Ovum, and Total Telecom – has selected TeliaSonera International Carrier for both the ‘Best Wholesale Carrier’ and for ‘Best Project’ shortlist.
TeliaSonera International Carrier has a strong pedigree at the ceremony, having previously won the ‘Best Wholesale Carrier’ category in 2007, 2009 and 2011. This year’s nomination for the Best Project focuses on upgrading the carrier’s wholly-owned optical network in the US and Europe. The project business benefits were evidenced by three key successes – the world’s first terabit trial conducted with Infinera in California (Nov 2011), and two network outsourcing deals with both Rostelecom (Feb 2012) and Facebook (April 2012).
The nominations follow TeliaSonera International Carrier’s success earlier this year at the DWM NGN Optical Networking Conference in Monaco where the company picked up the award for Best Global Optical Network.

In the WCA Best wholesale Carrier 2012 category TeliaSonera International Carrier has been shortlisted alongside: Tata, Liquid Telecom, Interoute and, GTS. In Project of the Year TeliaSonera International Carrier will be up against BT, Orange, and Telstra. The winners will be announced on 13th November in London.
