Fair Health Accelerates Service Delivery With Telx Datacenter In New York City

Interconnection Leader Delivers Strategic, Carrier-Neutral, Healthcare Market Access
For Nation’s Largest Not-For-Profit Medical Claims Database

New York, NY (Sept 19, 2012)Telx®, a leading provider of global interconnectivity, cloud enablement services and data center solutions, today announced that FAIR Health, the independent not‐for‐profit corporation dedicated to bringing transparency to healthcare costs and out‐of‐network reimbursement, in coordination with FAIR Health’s advisory firm, Tech Gardens, an industry leader in IP Communication products and services, has deployed their private managed hosting operation within Telx’s NYC2 facility at 111 8th Ave. in New York City. By establishing a presence within Telx’s carrier-neutral, network-rich facility, FAIR Health can quickly and cost-effectively receive, validate and organize millions of healthcare claims and distribute data-intensive products on a timely basis to its commercial and research clients.

The FAIR Health database currently includes nearly 15 billion billed claims for medical and dental procedures performed since 2002 by healthcare providers nationwide, representing the most comprehensive healthcare claims database available. Data is submitted by more than 70 private payors participating in the organization’s contribution program who collectively insure over 125 million subscribers.

“Placing our database in Telx’s connectivity-dense facility enables speedy performance for our organization by creating faster paths to developing products and distributing data to our clients,” said Benjamin Casado Garcia, chief technology officer of Fair Health. “Partnering with Telx in the New York City metro area provides us with the tools to efficiently connect with the world’s leading healthcare companies at remarkable speeds.”

FAIR Health leveraged Telx’s 111 8th Avenue facility because of its high-performance connectivity, broad selection of telecommunication carriers, and proximity to FAIR Health’s vendors.

“Our goal in working with FAIR Health was to help them identify, evaluate and select a colocation provider with scalability for long-term growth,” said James Sanveren, President of Tech Gardens. “After reviewing a number of colocation providers, we ultimately decided that the combination of accessibility and colocation opportunities Telx offered was an important factor in FAIR Health’s development and could grow with them as they expand the services they provide to their customers.”

“The massive number of healthcare claims that FAIR Health works with on a daily basis requires a solution that helps the company expedite their ability to work with massive amounts of data, improve their speed-to-market, and expand their network’s reach. FAIR Health’s decision to select Telx’s NYC2 facility is a proof point of Telx’s ability to deliver operational efficiencies with such a prime and densely connected facility as is 111 8th Ave,” said Ron Sterbenz, vice president of marketing for Telx. “We are proud to assist FAIR Health with the organization’s noble undertaking to provide greater transparency to healthcare costs, and we look forward to providing our unique services to help them reach their goals.”
