Level 3 Named as UK Government PSN Framework Supplier for Five Service Categories

Company selected as provider of range of innovative services and cost efficiencies to government and public sector

LONDON, Aug. 1, 2012 /PRNewswire/ — Level 3 Communications, Inc. (NYSE:LVLT, news, filings) today announced that the UK government has listed the company as a supplier for five service categories under the Public Services Network (PSN) framework. Following on from Level 3’s secured placement on the PSN Connectivity Framework Agreement, announced in April, Level 3 is now positioned to start providing network and Cloud-based services over the PSN to any PSN customer.

The service categories for which Level 3 is a named supplier include:

  • Communication Services;
  • Conferencing Services;
  • Contact Centre Services;
  • Gateway Services; and
  • Unified Services.

“PSN not only has the potential to save the public sector a significant amount of money, it will also bring real benefits to government organisations — enabling access to new services and a more collaborative way of working,” said David Shields, managing director of the Government Procurement Services. “It’s a complex and challenging programme to deliver and it’s going to take time and effort and energy, but we are confident that we have the right providers in place to ensure the PSN Services framework is a success.”

“It’s an honor to serve the government and public sector through the Public Service Network,” said Jeff Parris, Level 3 senior vice president of Government Sales for the EMEA region. “This framework is designed to provide innovative services to help government departments achieve meaningful cost efficiencies and operational benefits, and we’re pleased to be able to help them do that with our advanced network services.”

The PSN Services framework aims to assistUKgovernment and the wider public sector by providing an efficient, effective procurement chain for services. The framework is intended to create a Pan-UKGovernment/Public Sector unified network that will generate significant cost savings in excess of £130 million a year by removing duplicate connections, simplifying procurement processes, encouraging the use of shared services and providing a platform for collaboration.
