Juniper Networks Names Andrew Bach Chief Architect, Financial Services

SUNNYVALE, CA–(Marketwire – Jun 11, 2012) – Juniper Networks (NASDAQ:JNPR, news, filings), the industry leader in network innovation, today announced the appointment of Andrew Bach as chief architect for its Financial Services Team. Bach joins Juniper Networks from NYSE Euronext, where he served as senior vice president, Global Head of Network Services.

“As an industry expert and award-winning innovator, Andy brings invaluable insights in the global financial marketplace, and specifically, the network infrastructure requirements and challenges facing global financial exchanges,” said Gene Chao, vice president, Global Industries, Strategy and Solutions at Juniper Networks. “Andy’s depth of passion, combined with his deep knowledge and expertise, will be invaluable for customers as Juniper continues to lead the charge to architect the new network.”

Reporting directly to Chao, Bach will be responsible for guiding Juniper’s sales team and elevating the company’s thought leadership in the financial services marketplace, as well as collaborating closely with customers to define next-generation architectures that support emerging requirements in cloud computing and the mobile Internet.

“While at the NYSE, I had the opportunity to work with many world class networking providers, but consistently found Juniper Networks to be the leader in network innovation,” said Bach. “In joining Juniper, I am both excited and looking forward to the opportunity to expand Juniper’s leadership role in the vital Financial Services industry.”

Most recently at NYSE, Bach was responsible for planning the company’s worldwide networks that link all NYSE, Securities Industries Automation Corporation (SIAC), the American Stock Exchange (AMEX), Pacific Stock Exchange, Archipelago, LIFFE and European cash markets, as well as the national markets system networks SIAC operates. The Secure Financial Transaction Infrastructure (SFTI) technology that Bach designed and developed during his time at NYSE grew from a local New York City metropolitan network to a global network spanning across several continents.

Bach sat on the board of the Promise Fund at Polytechnic University in New York City, where he also was an adjunct professor for graduate studies in networking. In 2000, he won the prestigious Computerworld Smithsonian Award for his role in the integration of IP multicasting technology in the financial services industry. He also holds multiple patents in communications technologies. Bach received a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from the Pratt Institute.
