Huawei’s Coherent 100G Solution Helps Leading CIS Operators Build WDM Networks

[Shenzhen, China, June 18, 2012]: Huawei, a leading global information and communications technology (ICT) solutions provider, recently announced that its coherent 100G solution has been selected by several leading operators in the CIS, including Rostelecom, MTS, and Beltelecom. Following successful deployments of Huawei coherent 100G on European networks, Huawei’s cutting edge solution is now being welcomed by operators in the vast CIS region.

100G coherent WDM technology offers an answer to the explosive growth in global demand for bandwidth-hungry services. This technology has matured quickly to become a commercially viable solution to control the bandwidth flood. 100G technology was first deployed commercially in Europe in 2011. European operators were impressed with Huawei’s coherent 100G solution and Huawei worked with several top European operators, such as KPN International, SFR, and TDC, to build next-generation 100G WDM networks. In 2012, the construction of 100G networks began in the CIS region and leading CIS operators, like their European counterparts, chose Huawei’s coherent 100G solution to build these networks.

Huawei’s coherent 100G solution is built around OTN architecture that supports flexible service grooming. The solution uses advanced soft decision technology, coherent technology, and digital signal processing (DSP) technologies. The solution is highly adaptable for use with old fibers on legacy networks. Powered by these features, Huawei’s coherent 100G solution provides the longest transmission distance in the industry and supports transmission over a distance of 2500 km without electrical regeneration. CIS operators are especially impressed by the support that Huawei’s 100G solution offers for evolution from legacy 10G and 40G systems to 100G systems. And that will significantly protect their network investment.

As a pioneer in 100G WDM, Huawei has deployed more than 25 commercial and 50 trial 100G networks. Huawei provides first-class transport network products, such as WDM/OTN/MS-OTN, MSTP/Hybrid MSTP, microwave products, and end-to-end network solutions. According to consultancy firm Ovum, Huawei is currently ranked No. 1 in the global optical network, WDM/OTN, and 100G/40G network markets as of Q1 2012.
