Sprint Earns $2 Billion Contract with Western States Contracting Alliance

OVERLAND PARK, Kan. (BUSINESS WIRE), May 01, 2012 – Sprint (NYSE:S, news, filings) announced today that the Western States Contracting Alliance (WSCA) has awarded Sprint a four-year, $2 billion contract to serve as one of its wireless products and services providers. The contract with WSCA, a national public sector purchasing consortium, represents one of the largest for Sprint in 2012.

The WSCA purchasing consortium is composed of 15 states that have joined together for increased buying power through cooperative multistate contracting. State and local government entities (including public safety, public education, health care and utilities) and authorized non-profit organizations across the country use WSCA’s purchasing capabilities.

“Sprint earned the contract based on its innovative product and solutions portfolio, record of strong customer service, superior value, and pricing flexibility,” said Kevin Kunkel, Sprint regional sales vice president.

WSCA participants will be able to take advantage of the full suite of Sprint wireless products and services, including devices, unlimited data plans, accessories, applications and end-to-end solutions.

“With this new multiyear agreement with WSCA through October 2016, Sprint continues its industry-leading role as a wireless provider in the state and local public sector,” said Gray Sigler, Sprint’s WSCA client executive. “Our intent in this space is to enable government entities across the country to achieve more with fewer resources using mobile solutions.”
