TelePacific Executives to Speak at COMPTEL PLUS Convention

U.S. TelePacific Corp, which does business as TelePacific Communications (TelePacific), today announced that Don Poe, Vice President of Engineering, and Nancy Lubamersky, Vice President of Public Policy and Strategic Initiatives, will be speaking at the COMPTEL PLUS Spring 2012 Convention & EXPO, April 15-18 at the Marriott Marquis in San Francisco.

COMPTEL is the leading industry association for competitive communications service providers driving technological innovation and the deployment of next-generation IP-based networks and advanced services utilizing fiber, copper and wireless facilities. TelePacific has been an active member organization of COMPTEL for many years and Russ Shipley, Senior Vice President of Wholesale and Network Services, currently serves on the association’s board of directors.

Mr. Poe, an accomplished telecommunications leader with more than 20 years of experience in operations and engineering, is participating in the panel “Cyber Threats in 2012 and Beyond: How to Ensure Your Network Security is Rock Solid” at 9:00 a.m. on April 16. The session will explore best practices and preventative measures to protect networks and critical infrastructures from the hacker tactics of cybercriminals.

“I’m honored to be a speaker on this topic at the COMPTEL PLUS Convention this year,” says Poe. “Internet threats continue to evolve and become more sophisticated so it’s important that service providers and business enterprises continue to share their experiences and techniques for safeguarding their networks from malicious attacks that can disrupt service.”

Ms. Lubamersky, a telecommunications industry veteran with extensive experience in public policy, quantitative analysis, product management and regulatory compliance, is participating in the panel “USF Reform: How Will the FCC Pay to Connect America?” at 9:00 a.m. on April 17.

Last fall the FCC approved a six-year transfer process that would transition money from the USF to a new $4.5 billion a year Connect America Fund (CAF) for broadband Internet expansion. The panel will examine the CAF and its promise to bring broadband to the 18 million Americans that do not have access to it today.

“I’m looking forward to addressing this very important issue with my colleagues at COMPTEL,” says Lubamersky. “The universal service program and its funding mechanism impacts service provider offerings and, ultimately, the rates that businesses and consumers pay for telecommunications services. This panel will address how the FCC can or should implement a stable and predictable means of funding the program.”
