KDDI America Launches International GSM Roaming And Releases Android™ Smartphone Motorola XPRT™

NEW YORK, NY, April 10th, 2012 – KDDI America, Inc. announces today that it has launched the “international GSM roaming” capability from its brand “KDDI Mobile”. At the same time, “KDDI Mobile” has also released the Android™ smartphone Motorola XPRT™ (hereinafter referred to as XPRT) for enterprise customers.

International GSM roaming has started, enabling users to use voice calls in more than 200 countries and areas*1. GSM data roaming will start in a few months.

XPRT has a CDMA/GSM dual mode. It is one of the “Business Ready Smartphones” from Motorola’s lineup, equipped with functionality that supports business users. The XPRT comes with Motoblur™, which syncs and delivers your emails and messages right to your home screen. It is equipped with a 3.1 inch touch screen and a QWERTY keyboard, making it easy to compose emails. The XPRT users can check and edit documents anytime and anywhere using the installed Quickoffice® application. Users’ accessibility to their office servers by using File Manager is one of the convenient functions of XPRT.

The XPRT is also known for its security system*2, which is the highest level of security compared to the other Android smartphones. For example, not only could the data in the device be encrypted, but the data in the SD card could be encrypted as well. Moreover, in the event of a lost or stolen phone, data in the device and the SD card can be erased remotely by utilizing the function from Microsoft® Exchange.
