Smilingbits GmbH Selects Level 3 to Enhance Security, Efficiency of Online Customer Portal

Level 3 Network Services and DDoS Protection to Enhance Experience for Smilingbits GmbH customers

LONDON, March 05, 2012 – Level 3 Communications, Inc. (NYSE:LVLT, news, filings) today announced that it has been selected by Smilingbits GmbH, a software service provider in Germany, to provide a range of network services that will enhance the security and efficiency of the company’s online customer portal, an important tool for its global customer base.

Based in Regensburg, Germany, Smilingbits develops individual software systems for enterprises in the multimedia and business sector, and is turning to Level 3 to provide a range of advanced and managed network solutions including dedicated Internet access (DIA), colocation services and protection against Distributed Denial-of-Service (DDoS) attacks. These services will not only provide Smilingbits access to Level 3’s extensive IP network, but will also provide protection to the company’s resources and capabilities.
