New York –March 5, 2012 — Sidera Networks, the premier provider of tailored fiber optic-based network solutions, is pleased to announce the appointment of Joe Cumello to the position of Vice President of Marketing.
Cumello brings nearly 20 years of telecom and enterprise network marketing experience to the Sidera team. At Sidera Networks, Joe will be responsible for managing all marketing functions.
Cumello’s most recent position was as VP of Marketing at SafeNet, an information security company. While there, he was responsible for leading SafeNet’s product marketing and field marketing initiatives. Managing a team of over 30 people, Joe oversaw the launch of SafeNet’s cloud security and new data encryption products, drove increased discipline and methodology behind SafeNet’s sales enablement efforts, and increased the qualified lead flow into the sales funnel.
Prior to his position with SafeNet, Cumello worked eight years for Ciena as Sr. Director of Global Marketing. There, he focused on the development of next generation optical and Ethernet services and accompanying marketing plans to support and grow Ciena’s service provider partners. He also oversaw Ciena’s industry and regional marketing efforts targeting the telecom, wireless backhaul, financial services, healthcare, and government markets across North America. Latin America, Europe, and Asia.
Other positions held by Cumello include Director of Corporate Communications for Celox Networks a maker of IP service switches, and Manager of Marketing for Visual Networks, which developed service management platforms for both enterprises and telecom network operators. Cumello holds a BA in English from University of Maryland College Park.
