DukeNet Communications Awarded Contract to Offer South Carolina Government Telecommunication Services

Charlotte NC, March 12, 2012 – DukeNet Communications, operators of an all-fiber optic regional network delivering the robust network solutions that businesses and carriers need to successfully and reliably operate, announces today it was awarded a seven-year contract by the State of South Carolina to offer advanced communications services to state agencies, universities and other institutions.

“With an all fiber network, an impressive range of scalable solutions, and legendary reliability, DukeNet provides the private, secure bandwidth and cloud-based services needed to uniquely support the needs of demanding entities like state government,” said Michael Prendergast, SVP Sales and Marketing for DukeNet Communications. “We’re confident we can deliver wavelength, collocation and other advanced tech solutions to the State of South Carolina.”

This long-term agreement into 2018 authorizes the procurement of select next-generation telecommunications services by all South Carolina state departments, agencies and higher education institutions.

DukeNet offers a complete range of fiber-fit services to uniquely connect people, sites and equipment reliably and securely. The DukeNet Network Operations Center (NOC) manages one of the most reliable, utility-grade fiber optic networks in the world, supporting energy sites, top wireless phone/data carriers, data centers and major regional businesses that depend on five nines of uptime to support their business critical objectives.

“No one knows the Carolinas like DukeNet Communications,” said Prendergast. “Our diverse fiber optic network is fast, secure and reliable. Still, with so much variance in the way each industry utilizes this robust network, our solutions must be nimble and adaptable to very specific needs. DukeNet offers diverse routes from many other carriers, allowing businesses to remain strategically connected to major central offices, carrier hotels and other interconnect facilities. This is one of the reasons the State of South Carolina selected us for wavelength and collocation services.”
