As E‐Rate Form 471 Filing Deadline Looms, DukeNet Communications Encourages North and South Carolina Schools and Libraries to Seek Fiber Optic Solutions at Discounted Rates

Charlotte NC, March 14, 2012 ‐‐ DukeNet Communications, a pure fiber optic data and Internet provider serving the Carolinas, is reminding eligible K‐12 schools and libraries in North and South Carolina to take advantage of ERate discounts on select data and Internet services, equipment and maintenance.

“Schools and libraries have until March 20 to choose their E‐Rate service provider, and DukeNet’s all‐fiber optic network is the perfect choice for educators seeking a higher standard than what traditional phone companies provide,” notes Michael Prendergast, SVP Marketing for DukeNet. “It’s time for our schools to consider something other than copper connections and begin to realize the benefits of a pure fiber network, which delivers the speed, consistency and reliability needed to educate our children.”

E‐Rate is provided by the Universal Service Administrative Company, and eligible schools can save on almost all of their communications expenses by participating in the program. But they must first complete certain forms, and ultimately file Form 471 before midnight on Tuesday, March 20, 2012.

With North Carolina based DukeNet high‐bandwidth fiber solutions from 10mg up to 10G, qualifying schools and libraries can get private, secure, dedicated Internet access with the dependability and reliability that only a utility‐grade fiber network can bring. “Schools get a custom made solution for their communication challenges, can easily communicate with district offices, parents and others, even send and receive music, video and other bandwidth‐hogging files, as quickly and securely as sending student data and records, and complying with all government and CIPA requirements,” says Prendergast.

Even if schools or libraries have not yet started the E‐Rate process, DukeNet encourages them to get involved, prepare for the next round and start saving. For more information about E‐Rate and DukeNet Communications solutions, please contact DukeNet at 704‐382‐7111.
