CenturyLink invites the public to donate socks and mittens

JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. – CenturyLink (NYSE:CTL, news, filings) today announced that its employees in eastern Tennessee will be collecting socks and mittens to donate to various local charitable organizations this holiday season. This is the second year CenturyLink employees have held this campaign.

Public donations will be taken until Dec. 20 at two CenturyLink locations:

  • Johnson City – 1914 N. Roan St., 423-282-4444, from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., Monday-Friday; and 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., Saturday.
  • Bristol, Va. – 200 Linden Square Dr. #7, 276-466-1111, from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., Monday-Friday; and 9:00 a.m. to 2 p.m., Saturday.

“The first year we collected only socks,” said Lottie Ryans, CenturyLink’s vice president and general manager for Tennessee and Western North Carolina. “When we donated the socks, the plea to collect mittens as well was so overwhelming that our employees decided to collect both this year.”

The company’s goal for this season is to collect 5,000 pairs of socks and mittens.

“Last year, we set a goal of 500 pairs of socks and through the generosity of our customers and communities we exceeded that goal by more than 1,900 pairs of socks,” Ryans added. “Our employees are proud to be part of programs that support the people of our communities.”
