Live Mobile Video Sharing For Businesses A Reality With Push Of A Button

New AT&T Video Capture solution for small and large businesses enables live remote streaming of mobile video

Dallas, Texas, October 11, 2011

To say that video and the mobile Internet were made for each other would have been seen by many as nonsense just a few short years ago. Today, however, with the emergence of high-speed wireless networks most would agree that the two make a perfect pair.

In fact, mobile video sharing is expected to reach 15 million users in the U.S. by 2015, according to market analyst firm ABI Research. And the Cisco® Visual Networking Index (VNI) Global Mobile Data Traffic Forecast  projects that video will account for 66 percent of the world’s mobile data traffic by 2015.

To help meet this burgeoning demand, AT&T is enabling business customers to stream live or recorded video from their smartphones via the AT&T Cloud for access by remote staff through the new AT&T Video Capture solution.

“There is a huge untapped opportunity for mobile video sharing services as a number of vertical industries are demanding multi-modal, interactive and real-time collaboration,” says Practice Director Dan Shey at ABI Research, a market intelligence company. “AT&T’s Video Capture extends the benefits of video communications to an increasingly mobile and distributed workforce.”

Targeted at large and small businesses alike, AT&T’s solution is ideal for any company looking to improve productivity and that needs quick access to  live video from the field. For example:

  • Media broadcasters can be the first to bring live breaking news images to their audiences in a world of ever-increasing demand for real-time information.
  • Field service technicians can resolve issues with a single visit to a customer site, improving their satisfaction rate and allowing significant cost savings.
  • Insurance adjusters can give customers estimates in real-time after assessing the damage, speeding up the claims processing time.

“This new offer is an example of how we’re providing a cloud-based service to help businesses enhance their operations”, said Chris Hill, AT&T Vice President of Advanced Mobility Solutions. “Although this solution offers a simple deployment based on the AT&T Cloud, our application consulting teams will guide customers in redesigning their processes to inject a new dimension: real-time video.”

Also, this leading edge technology can assist businesses with their “green initiatives” by helping to reduce travel to remote locations.

With the push of a button, AT&T Video Capture enables live, secure streaming from smartphones straight to PC’s or to broadcast centers with very low latency. Mobile users can speak with the receiving party while broadcasting or get live text feedback. In addition, video is stored on the AT&T Cloud and can also be backed up and replayed at the office.

Available on leading smartphone platforms, AT&T Video Capture features a web-based multi-video monitoring interface where authorized viewers can watch live videos in real-time from their desks or review archived feeds on-demand, and communicate with users in the field through live text feedback or voice calls. The solution also offers optional low-latency video decoding software that extends the service for live on-air broadcasting.

Besides streaming live video and audio, customers benefit from the high-reliability and security built into the AT&T Cloud hosting platform, where a copy of the video is recorded and stored. Video Capture works on various AT&T wireless networks, including Wi-Fi, and is backed up by local recording capability so that users are ready to capture video any time.
