Interoute recognised for outstanding contribution to unified communications market

Frost and Sullivan european ICT awardsLondon, 12 October 2011 – Interoute, owner operator of Europe’s largest cloud services platform, today announced it has been awarded the title of Unified Communications European Service Provider of the Year in the 2011 Frost & Sullivan European ICT awards. Interoute received the award at a London awards banquet, on 29 September, where Interoute was commended for leading the way in making enterprise services available from within the cloud.

Interoute’s advanced pan-European network carries One billion VoIP minutes each month for its service provider and enterprise customers, connecting 100 cities in 29 countries. When making their selection, the award panel were particularly impressed with the scope of Interoute’s network, the Interoute One service, and its Microsoft certification for SIP trunking with Office Communication Server and Lync Server 2010, which are key components of Interoute’s Unified Communications strategy. Interoute One offers organisations a secure, business-grade VoIP service and enables enterprises to migrate to unified communications and VoIP without the need to change existing PBX platforms or invest in costly migration projects.

“Interoute is a key participant in a market that is experiencing very impressive growth, mainly due to the economic downturn creating interest in alternative communication delivery methods, increasing awareness of hosted solutions, as well as improved feature sets becoming available,” said Dorota Oviedo, Industry Analyst, Frost & Sullivan. “Unified Communications has only recently been offered as a service, thus the companies that were considered for this award offer services that can be seen as pioneering and revolutionary. With a very strong enterprise VoIP portfolio and the advantage of offering the first European SIP trunking certified for Microsoft communications servers, Interoute can be perceived as a true unified communications enabler”

A pioneer in the unified communications industry, Interoute was the first European service provider to supply SIP trunking for Microsoft OCS in 2009 and for Microsoft Lync in 2010. Interoute continues to innovate; acquiring the Visual Conference Group (VCG) in March 2011, adding fully managed video conferencing and telepresence services to its Unified ICT portfolio.

Gareth Williams, CEO of Interoute, comments: “We are extremely proud to have our unified communications services acknowledged by this award. Our commitment to the market has always been to deliver services that offer optimal cost, outstanding performance and efficiency that’s second to none. Receiving this industry accolade is testament to years of continued investment in developing innovative new applications to deliver cutting edge services to our enterprises customers.”
