XO Communications Ranks 46 on the 2011 InformationWeek 500

  • Customer-Centered Innovations Continue to Position XO as a Leader in the Telecommunications Industry

HERNDON, VA – Sep 14, 2011 – XO Communications today announced that it ranked 46 on this year’s InformationWeek 500 — a list of the top technology innovators in the U.S. The annual list was revealed last night at a gala awards ceremony at the exclusive InformationWeek 500 Conference taking place at the St. Regis Monarch Beach Resort, Dana Point, CA.

2011 marks XO Communication’s fourth consecutive year on the InformationWeek 500. This year’s rank lands XO at the top of the telecommunication industry and 64 spots ahead of its 2010 ranking. The Company was recognized for its development of two innovative new customer tools — NetProv and the XO Operations Center — that provide Enterprise customers with more effective, real-time support and service optimization.

“XO has made it a top priority to provide additional self-service capabilities for its large-scale customers with complex needs,” said Rob Geller, chief information officer for XO Communications. “By developing and tailoring our customer-centric tools and applications to the unique needs of our Enterprise customers, XO continues to set the industry standard for innovative customer support.”

XO’s IT team developed NetProv as a flexible network provisioning tool that centralizes the company’s provisioning data and allows for real-time changes during the order provisioning process. The team also designed the XO Operations Center, an interactive desktop application that acts as a virtual Network Operating Center. Together, these tools have greatly improved the Enterprise customer experience by allowing for real-time customer care access and faster provisioning cycles and service deployments.

“For 23 years, the InformationWeek 500 has chronicled and honored the most innovative users of business technology,” said InformationWeek Editor In Chief Rob Preston. “In this day and age, however, being innovative isn’t enough. Companies and their IT organizations need to innovate faster than ever before to stay a step or two ahead of their customers, partners, and competitors. This year’s ranking placed special emphasis on those high-octane business technology innovators.”

InformationWeek identifies and honors the nation’s most innovative users of information technology with its annual 500 listing, and also tracks the technology, strategies, investments and administrative practices of America’s best-known companies. Top winners have included: The Vanguard Group, CME Group, Conway, National Semiconductor, Kimberly-Clark, Hilton Hotels and Unum. The InformationWeek 500 rankings are unique among corporate rankings as it spotlights the power of innovation in information technology, rather than simply identifying the biggest IT spenders.
