Internap Accelerated IP Service Named Winner of 2011 Golden Bridge Award for Performance Optimization

ATLANTA – August 23, 2011 – Internap Network Services Corporation (NASDAQ:INAP, news, filings), a provider of intelligent IT Infrastructure services, announced that its Accelerated IP (XIP™) solution has earned a Golden Bridge Award – which honors innovative technology products and services worldwide – in the category of “Performance Optimization.”
Technology Innovation Award Winner - Internap

Internap’s XIP is a first-of-its-kind integrated Internet traffic accelerator that is delivered “as-a-service” and enhances web traffic performance from the application to the end user by up to four times. XIP improves delivery of dynamic web content, resulting in faster downloads and response times for websites and web-based applications. XIP addresses the inherent limitations of the core Internet communications protocol TCP (Transmission Control Protocol); designed nearly 40 years ago, TCP takes a conservative approach to IP traffic delivery – sacrificing performance to deliver reliability. With XIP, enterprises are able to significantly increase throughput and improve application performance to geographically remote sites with no upfront capital, hardware or software expenditures required, saving time and money.

XIP also leverages Internap’s global, route-optimized Performance IP™ network, which monitors Internet traffic and ensures that customer content accelerated by XIP is sent over the optimal path. Additionally, XIP is integrated into Internap’s Content Delivery Network (CDN), speeding delivery of video streaming and web content to any device, including PCs, tablets and mobile phones.

“In today’s online content-driven market, end users require optimal Internet performance and will drop slow web transactions without hesitation for a competitive site that’s only a mouse-click away,” said Amar Khan, vice president of IP Services. “The Golden Bridge Award for XIP underscores our long-standing commitment to fast, seamless delivery of web content and applications. This is reflected in the measurable results seen by our XIP customers, who have reported dramatic web traffic performance gains of up to 80%.”

More than 40 judges from a broad spectrum of industries worldwide participated and their average scores determined the 2011 Golden Bridge Business Awards winners. Winners were honored in New York City on Wednesday, August 10, 2011, during the third annual awards dinner and presentations.
