Terremark’s Brazilian Colocation Services Achieve Prestigious ISO 27001 Certification

Colocation Services Certified as Meeting Stringent Information Security Management Standard to Provide High Availability and Confidentiality of Customer Data

MIAMI–(BUSINESS WIRE)– Terremark, a Verizon Company, today announced its colocation services delivered from its São Paulo, Brazil data center have been accredited with the internationally recognized ISO/IEC 27001:2005 certification. This certification provides third-party verification that the company’s Brazilian colocation services conform to an information security management standard that helps protect the integrity of customers’ critical and sensitive information.

ISO/IEC 27001:2005 is the international standard for the management of an information security management system (ISMS). The certification, which is valid for a three-year term, is a key component of Terremark’s program to protect vital customer data from a wide range of cyber threats and vulnerabilities that can lead to data loss.

“This certification further reinforces Terremark’s unwavering commitment to provide highly secure colocation services from our top-tier data centers,” said Hector Hernandez, senior vice president of data center operations for Terremark. “To be certified to the ISO/IEC 27001:2005 standard further demonstrates that we have implemented the systems and controls required to enable customers to fully safeguard mission-critical applications residing in our advanced in-region colocation center.”

The ISO/IEC 27001:2005 certification includes on-site assessments and encompasses security policies, organizational security, asset classification and control, personnel security, physical and environmental security, systems and network security, access controls, systems development and maintenance, business continuity management, and compliance. Certification to ISO/IEC 27001:2005 standards reinforces to customers that Terremark operates its colocation services in accordance with the ISO/IEC guidelines and general principles for information security management.

“ISO/IEC 27001:2005 certification is a reflection of Terremark’s significant commitment to the quality of its information security management systems,” said Chris Schellman, president of Brightline, the ANAB accredited registrar that conducted the assessment. “Successfully completing the rigorous certification process is a key component of Terremark’s effort to protect its customers’ hosted systems.”
