TeliaSonera International Carrier slam dunks deal with Bitoon Games

TeliaSonera International Carrier today announced that its Managed Data Centre service has been selected by Bitoon Games to provide the gaming platform for BasketDudes, Bitoon’s first Free2Play basketball MMO offering, released in June.

The partnership sees TeliaSonera International Carrier providing a worldwide connectivity solution from Paris, which includes IP connectivity, colocation, and leased servers. As BasketDudes is a MMO, the Spanish-based development studio required a high quality service partner to provide world class connectivity, serving the needs of a high volume of online players simultaneously – offering high capacity and resilience against latency.

Through TeliaSonera International Carrier’s individually designed server leasing, hosting and management solution, installed in its Paris data centre, Bitoon has been able to geographically locate their game where fans will have the best quality service possible. TeliaSonera International Carrier’s infrastructure and connections are amongst the top globally, enabling gamers worldwide to compete internationally in real time.

Brendan Ives, VP, Sales & Marketing, TeliaSonera International Carrier, says “Our tailored and individually designed service will enable Bitoon to kick off their foray into Free2Play MMO Basketball gaming in style. Our gaming services aim to support the demands of online players both today and for the long term, and we are proud to be adding Bitoon to our growing portfolio of games developers.”

BasketDudes is the first Free2Play basketball MMO game from BITOON GAMES. It is a completely free online 3D Action playerVSplayer offering. The game demonstrates an original and cared-for visual style, employing an immersive and refreshing narrative setting. Possessing a wide range of game mechanics, it combines action sports gameplay reminiscent of instant arcade classics, with enriching strategic components found in trading card games, as well as virtual items to improve gameplay. Its RPG features empower the evolution and customisation of teams and players, enhancing a strong community component around the competition.

Fernando Piquer, CEO of Bitoon Games, adds “Bitoon Games is a new competitive company that requires a leading technical service. Our aim is to become a key international player in the development and publishing of Free2Play online videogames. Throughout the gaming industry, TeliaSonera International Carrier holds a reputation as a high-quality service partner. Their experienced personnel will be key to BasketDudes’ success.”

TeliaSonera International Carrier’s gaming platform runs across its wholly owned global fiber-based network, with more than 200 points of presence in 35 countries across Europe, the US and Asia – through more than 43,000 kilometers (27,000 miles) of optical fiber network. Every link and network element is monitored and managed from a central point; each fiber connection is fully redundant and individual streams are monitored and managed continuously.
