Huawei Receives Three Accolades at Global Telecoms Business Innovation Awards 2011

[London, UK, 8 June, 2011: Huawei, a leading telecom solutions provider, today announced that it has won three awards at this year’s Global Telecoms Business Innovation Award 2011.

Huawei was honored for its collaboration with both Aero2 and Vodafone in its advancement of LTE commercial networks in the ‘Wireless network infrastructure innovation’ category at this year’s awards. The award is a further significant milestone for Huawei since it won the ‘Significant Progress for a Commercial Launch of LTE by a Vendor’ category at last month’s LTE summit. The Global Telecoms Business Innovation award is further proof that Huawei’s innovation and commercialization in LTE have been widely recognized by the industry as driving forward this new technology.

The network, which was jointly deployed by Huawei and Aero2, is the world’s first LTE FDD and LTE TDD co-platform network and is also the first LTE TDD commercial network in the world. The successful collaboration between Huawei and Vodafone in LTE demonstrates how LTE will contribute to significantly improving mobile broadband coverage and help to eliminate the “digital divide”. Both of these LTE networks were deployed using Huawei’s industry-leading SingleRAN LTE solution.

Alan Burkitt-Gray, editor of Global Telecoms Business said of Huawei’s win: “The Global Telecoms Business Innovation Award recognizes those organizations which have made a great innovation in the wireless field in 2010. Huawei has led the way in moving the commercialization of LTE forward within the telecoms industry. The LTE commercial projects for Aero2 and Vodafone were highly praised by our judges and I would like to personally congratulate Huawei on winning these awards”.

He Gang, President of global wireless solution sales department, Huawei ,said, “This award is testament to both Huawei’s and its partners’ endeavors to moving LTE forward through collaboration based on understanding of each others’ business requirements. We are committed to becoming the best business partner for operators around the world”.

Huawei was also awarded in the ‘Business service innovation’ category for its performance in KPNI’s ‘International Service Platform’ project. The platform developed by Huawei, is the first commoditization MVNE IT support service enabled by cloud technologies within the Europe communications landscape. As a result of the collaboration, KPNI can now lease out the function of the platform to potential MVNOs and MNVs – thereby eliminating the need to deploy and develop their own BSS.
