Indosat Selects ADVA Optical Networking to Support Banking Customers’ Data Center Connectivity

Indonesian Service Provider Identifies ADVA FSP 3000 as Marketplace’s Most Complete and Reliable Solution for Enabling Interbank Services

ADVA Optical Networking today announced that PT INDOSAT Tbk has deployed ADVA Optical Networking’s FSP 3000 to support data center interconnectivity solutions for the Indonesian service provider’s banking customers. The ADVA FSP 3000 provides high-capacity Dense Wavelength Division Multiplexing (DWDM) core network connectivity for Indosat’s interbank services.

“ADVA Optical Networking has already supported Indosat in providing the solution for enabling our interbank services. We hope that this current solution will increase the value that we bring to our customers and strengthen Indosat’s position in the marketplace,” stated Achmad Abimanyu, group head customer solutions at Indosat.

Indosat is a leading telecommunications and information service provider in Indonesia, providing cellular services, fixed telecommunications services and multimedia, internet and data communications services. The company now serves 45.7 million cellular subscribers. Indosat leverages its infrastructure of submarine and terrestrial fiber-optic, microwave, wireless and satellite networks to offer state-of-the-art connectivity solutions to customers in a wide array of industries including banking, manufacturing and energy.

Working with ADVA Optical Networking’s local partner, PT. Kaliaren Jaya, Indosat has deployed the ADVA FSP 3000 in its Jakarta headquarters to provide a scalable and flexible DWDM core-network solution to connect its banking customers’ geographically dispersed data centers in point-to-point network configurations. The solutions cover distances of 40km and 80km, offering 1G and 2G Fibre Channel, as well as Gigabit Ethernet connectivity.

The ADVA FSP 3000’s modular architecture, rack-mountable shelves, hot-swappable modules, universal cards, transparent interfaces and qualifications with all leading storage area network (SAN) vendors allow Indosat to dynamically address its banking customers’ varied requirements and to easily provision services of any standard protocol.

“ADVA Optical Networking’s long history of providing data center connectivity solutions to financial customers has directly informed the ongoing refinement of our solution,” said Erik Lindberg, ADVA Optical Networking’s vice president of sales for Asia-Pacific. “The FSP 3000 provides unmatched scalability, flexibility, security and reliability. For enterprises, that translates into valuable business benefits such as avoiding application downtime, avoiding data loss and achieving operational efficiencies. This has made ADVA Optical Networking a trusted partner in the data center environment for more than 15 years.”
