FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: TUESDAY, MAY 24, 2011

Buenos Aires, Argentina — Global Crossing (NASDAQ: GLBC), a leading global IP and Ethernet solutions provider, has added virtualized security services to its Virtual Hosting on-demand service infrastructure.  The company is using unified threat management (UTM) solutions from Fortinet, a leading network security provider and the worldwide leader in UTM solutions.

Global Crossing Virtual Hosting Solutions, available through 15 data centers in Latin America, deliver virtual servers as well as all necessary support services for their deployment, including monitoring, backup, storage, operating systems and applications management and security.

“According to several analysts’ opinions, security is one of the main inhibitors that companies identify at the time of migrating their processes and applications to cloud-based environments,” said Gabriel del Campo, Latin America senior vice president and global product head of Data Center Services at Global Crossing.  “We can tackle this issue effectively, and gain a significant competitive advantage, with this technology.”

Fortinet’s technology offers carrier-class traffic management capacity and virtualization via standard communications protocols.

“These features are significant for a robust virtual hosting infrastructure service such as ours,” said del Campo.

“Global Crossing has developed a unique service infrastructure in the region, where all Virtual Hosting layers are virtualized and delivered on-demand to their customers,” stated Tito Avila, director, Carrier and Service Provider Sales of Fortinet.  “We are delighted that they have chosen Fortinet’s UTM solutions as a strategic key resource for this design.”

Global Crossing’s specialized security-oriented support structure provides services for more than 1,000 customers in the Latin America region.  The company’s consultants are located in every country in the region where Global Crossing operates, and are integrated with Global Crossing’s 24×7 Security Operation Center (SOC).  With more than 15 years in the marketplace, Global Crossing is a leader in the provisioning of Managed Services and Security Professional Services.
