ADTRAN Awarded FTTH Broadband Stimulus Rollout for West Texas

Wes-Tex Selects ADTRAN Total Access 5000 to Deliver Business and Residential Triple-Play Services
HUNTSVILLE, Ala., Apr 05, 2011 (BUSINESS WIRE) —

ADTRAN(R), Inc., (NASDAQ:ADTN, news, filings), a leading provider of next-generation networking solutions, today announced that Wes-Tex Telephone Cooperative and Telecommunications, a residential and business service provider in Western Texas, has selected ADTRAN’s flagship product, the Total Access(R) 5000 Multi-Service Access and Aggregation Platform (MSAP) to deliver voice, data and video services over its Fiber-to-the-Home (FTTH) network as part of a Broadband Stimulus award.

Wes-Tex selected the ADTRAN Total Access 5000 because it is proven as a delivery system for large deployments of voice, data and IPTV services in FTTH-based networks. Wes-Tex serves several thousand customers in nine counties in rural Western Texas which makes the quality, reliability, field experience, and growth potential of the Total Access 5000 key to a solid Fiber-to- the-Home network. The Total Access 5000 is a superior all Ethernet-based FTTH platform that delivers industry-leading broadband capacity and performance.

“When looking for a solution to deliver triple-play, we researched companies from top to bottom. ADTRAN’s outstanding warranty, maintenance and customer service stood out, making it the company of choice,” said Bob Wilson, general manager at Wes-Tex. “The Total Access 5000 will allow us to streamline our operational efforts and auto-provision and troubleshoot our advanced services with ease. In addition, we looked very closely at the financial health of the companies, and ADTRAN’s financial stability made us feel good about their long-term viability.”

The Total Access 5000 is a Multi-Service Access and Aggregation Platform (MSAP) that efficiently enables service providers to deploy many carrier-class services from a common product. An all-Ethernet core provides scalability to meet any access service demand. The Total Access 5000 is the ideal solution, gracefully handling the transition to next-generation services and providing a path toward a converged network.

“We are pleased that Wes-Tex has selected the Total Access 5000 for its Broadband Stimulus FTTH triple-play services deployment,” said P. Steven Locke, vice president of sales, service providers, ADTRAN Carrier Networks Division. “The Total Access product family is an ideal solution for service providers, like Wes-Tex, who are seeking a high-performance, cost-effective and reliable solution to deliver a wide array of next-generation services.”
