Huawei Announces World’s First Firewall with Terabit Processing Capability

[Paris, France,12 February 2011] Huawei, a leader in providing next-generation telecommunications network solutions for operators around the world, today unveiled the Eudemon 8000E (E8000E), the world’s first next-generation firewall with Terabit processing capability.

The E8000E features processing and interface capabilities superior to any other firewall on the market and is specifically designed to meet the complex requirements of cloud computing applications. Huawei’s firewall solution is built for smooth migration from IPv4 to IPv6 and provides a professional level of security protection for large-scale networks and cloud architectures.

“Our goal is to help carriers and enterprises better protect their core services, enhance operational efficiency and security, and more effectively serve their customers,” said Lei Yikang, President of Carrier Security Product Line, Huawei. “That is why we are committed to developing end-to-end security systems that provide protective solutions across desktop, application delivery, network, and operations.”

The E8000E incorporates Huawei’s own solar chip technology to create a genuine full-switching system that provides a switching capacity of 400Gb/s per slot and 6.4Tb/s for the entire system. It also uses a hardware-accelerated multi-core CPU, which guarantees effective integration of dedicated, high end security functions. The E8000E design facilitates service expansion allowing for the addition of key security applications such as, Intrusion Prevention System (IPS), and Virtual Private Network (VPN) to complement the firewall. In addition, the firewall uses multi-level, multi-core distributed architecture with isolated forwarding, service acceleration, QoS, and security computing components and supports line-rate forwarding on 100Gb/s interfaces.
