Fiber Optic Networking Service Provider, FiberLight, LLC Joins Allied Fiber’s Dark Fiber Community

Alpharetta, GA (February 1, 2011) FiberLight, LLC, a premier provider of mission-critical, high performance fiber optic networking services including Ethernet, Wavelengths and IP, SONET, and Dark Fiber optical transport network solutions, announces today they have joined Allied Fiber’s Dark Fiber Community.

FiberLight delivers broadband connectivity solutions over a $1 billion diverse optical ring typology network encompassing more than 500,000 miles of fiber optic cable which it owns, operates and performs 24-hour network monitoring 365 days a year, providing best-in-class network security and business continuity solutions. Fiberlight’s LightSource family of products includes Ethernet, IP, Managed Wavelengths, Dark Fiber and SONET, which provide scalable bandwidth increments up to 40 Gig in metro markets.

“FiberLight’s value to the market has always been our ability to deliver optical transport services that are diverse and highly reliable, providing clients a more stable and secure network platform,” states Michael P. Miller, CEO & Founder of FiberLight. “We look forward to being a part of the Dark Fiber Community and believe this online resource will be a highly effective tool for those looking to learn more about the fiber industry.”

“We are proud to work with FiberLight to offer a new kind of industry community,” states Hunter Newby, CEO of Allied Fiber. “The Dark Fiber Community is the type of neutral environment which will stimulate continued open discussion and drive industry growth.”

Allied Fiber has implemented a new, multi-duct design for intermediate access to the long-haul fiber duct through a parallel short-haul fiber duct all along the route. This enables all points between the major cities, including data centers, wireless towers and rural networks, to gain access to the dark fiber. In addition, the Allied Fiber neutral colocation facilities, located approximately every 60 miles along the route, accommodate and encourage a multi-tenant interconnection environment integrated with fiber that does not yet exist in the United States on this scale.
