Equinix and Carpathia Hosting Announce Global Alliance

Strategic Alliance Delivers Data Protection and Privacy Through A Combination of Data Centers and Complex, Compliant Hosting Services

Redwood City, Calif. and Dulles, Va. – February 24, 2011 – Equinix (NASDAQ:EQIX, news, filings), a global data center services provider, and Carpathia Hosting, a provider of complex, compliant managed hosting services for government agencies and enterprises, today announced that they will jointly sell and market to federal agencies, financial and healthcare enterprises with high security and data protection needs. The services offered by Equinix and Carpathia will enable organizations to deploy colocation, managed services and cloud solutions in a secure, compliant environment that meets stringent requirements and prevents the risk of data loss or privacy breaches.

This combined solution will deliver best-of-breed services from both organizations. Equinix is a provider of global colocation services and through Platform Equinix customers will have the ability to leverage dynamic ecosystems and networks to efficiently expand their business. Carpathia will provide scalable and secure enterprise-grade complex, compliant hosting solutions that can be provisioned and tailored to meet unique requirements, such as FISMA, DIACAP, HIPAA and PCI. The Equinix-Carpathia solution will enable data protection, security, compliance and data center services through integrated sales and delivery to customers.

“With competition increasing in the internet infrastructure market, companies that can differentiate themselves by leveraging their core advantages along with the complementary strengths of proven partners will be well-positioned to lead the market.  Bringing together scale and high-touch services in the form of a single package is a highly compelling solution for the complex compliance challenges that companies face today on both a domestic and international level,” said Doug Toombs, senior analyst at Tier1 Research.

Equinix and Carpathia have a seven-year track record of successfully meeting compliant hosting and colocation requirements for nearly 200 customers. Customers include Exostar, a provider of collaboration and business process integration tools for the aerospace and defense industries, which chose Carpathia and Equinix to deliver a solution that allowed it to exceed the most stringent standards for security, privacy and compliance for its industry. Other customers include civilian agencies such as the Federal Emergency Management Agency and the Department of Health & Human Services, as well as the U.S. Department of Defense including the Marines and the U.S. Army.

Carpathia will offer the following services on Platform Equinix:

Compliant managed hosting: highly secure, available and scalable environments to meet commercial and government compliance requirements, including HIPAA, PCI, FISMA and DIACAP.

Multi-tenant and private cloud solutions: uniquely built to meet the needs of federal agencies and enterprise companies including those focused on healthcare and financial services.

On-site engineering/Smart Hands: on-site support services to assist customers with monitoring, issues involving physical access to devices and those associated servers such as rebooting and diagnosing local issues, as well as Certification & Accreditation services that ensure industry and government compliance.

Equinix will provide the following:

Compliant Colocation: industry-leading data center services, standards compliance, physical security and a high-performance network ecosystem with global reach.

“Data integrity and security are driving increasingly complex requirements for our enterprise and federal customers. A world-class data center footprint is the foundation for delivering best-of-breed colocation, managed hosting, and cloud solutions that meet those requirements,” said Peter Weber, CEO of Carpathia Hosting. “We’re bringing to market a formidable combination of services on Platform Equinix that cannot be found through any single company or offering today.”

“Enterprise and federal agencies face significant challenges when operating complex IT infrastructure deployments. The joint solution we offer will allow customers to fulfill their performance and compliance requirements, without concerns about security in the cloud or in the data center itself,” said Jarrett Appleby, chief marketing officer of Equinix. “With Carpathia’s premier managed hosting services and the global reach of Platform Equinix, these customers are now able to efficiently meet growing market demand.”
